The Girls of Abdera

On the occasion of International Women’s Day (8 March), the Ephorate of Antiquities of Xanthi is organising the following events at the Archaeological Museum of Abdera:

Photographic Exhibition
Entitled “The Girls of Abdera”, the exhibition explores the lives of young girls in ancient Abdera, as known through toys, figurines, jewellery, and other artefacts. Visitors will be offered the leaflet “Little Conversations with the Women of Ancient Abdera”.

Duration: 8 March – 8 April 2017

Thematic Guided Tours
Focused on objects related to the childhood and adolescence of girls, as presented in the Museum of Abdera.
The tours will take place on Thursdays, 16, 23, and 30 March, from 11:00 to 12:00.
Organisation - Curatorial supervision of the exhibition and guided tours: Konstantina Kallintzi, Head of the Ephorate of Antiquities of Xanthi.

Admission is free.
